What happens when someone you love transforms into something monstrous? This haunting question lies at the heart of Wolf Man, the latest thriller from Blumhouse and visionary writer-director Leigh Whannell, the mastermind behind The Invisible Man.
Wolf Man stars Golden Globe nominee Christopher Abbott (Poor Things, It Comes at Night) as Blake, a man grappling with family tensions and an ominous inheritance. When Blake inherits his childhood home in the remote woods of rural Oregon after his father’s mysterious disappearance, he sees it as an opportunity to escape the mounting pressures of life in San Francisco. With his marriage to high-powered wife Charlotte, played by Emmy winner Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna), on the verge of collapse, Blake convinces her to take a break from the city and bring their young daughter, Ginger (Matilda Firth, Hullraisers, Coma), to the secluded property.
But the family’s retreat quickly spirals into terror. As they arrive at the house in the dead of night, an unseen animal attacks, forcing them to barricade themselves inside. As they fight for survival against the creature lurking outside, a more horrifying transformation begins within. Blake’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, and he starts to change into something unrecognizable. Trapped between the terror outside and the growing danger within, Charlotte must make an impossible decision about where the real threat lies.
The film’s supporting cast includes Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale), Ben Prendergast (The Sojourn), and Benedict Hardie (The Invisible Man), further building the tension in this atmospheric, character-driven horror.
Directed by Whannell, Wolf Man continues his collaboration with Blumhouse after the success of The Invisible Man, Upgrade, and Insidious: Chapter 3. The screenplay, penned by Whannell, Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Rebecca Angelo (Dumb Money), blends classic monster horror with psychological depth, delivering a modern take on the werewolf mythos.
The film is produced by Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum, with a powerhouse team of executive producers, including Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner, and Whannell himself. Wolf Man promises to be a gripping addition to the Blumhouse portfolio, a production that marries suspense, fear, and human drama in a way that only this studio can.
Prepare to be on edge when Wolf Man hits theaters, as Whannell’s latest creation explores the primal fear of losing control—and the terrifying consequences that follow.
