2016 is off to a sad beginning. I know many of our readers are fans of David Bowie, who passed earlier this week and now Alan Rickman a man beloved by millions for his portrayal of Severus Snape from the Harry Potter series has also died. As the Senior Editor of MovieFloss, I wanted to write a short thank you to Alan Rickman for embodying the man so many of us hated for years then grew to love. A true actor is great at making people hate him in fiction and love him in real life. Alan Rickman brought to life a character that I loved to hate, and his face every year much like the rest of the cast of Harry Potter reminds me of the love and tenderness that I had in my heart for those books and films. He will forever be in my mind Severus Snape, although I know he was the Voice of God/Metatron (Dogma), a robot named Marvin (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) and was Alexander Dane from (Galaxy Quest) Alan Rickman was a wonderful and splendid actor who will forever remind me of the most magical world around. His final two films to be released are Eye in the Sky (a military drama) and a voice acting role for Alice Through the Looking Glass (as the Blue Caterpillar). From all of the outpouring messages of love from J.K. Rowling herself to Daniel Radcliffe, we have at least the knowledge that Alan Rickman was loved by his colleagues and was revered by those who looked up to him most.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this hard time we only hope they find comfort in our memories of their beloved family member and how he touched all of our hearts with his performances.
