A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas continues to follow the present day lives of Harold and Kumar and where they have ended up in their lives after their Guantanamo Bay adventure 6 years ago. After Harold ruins his father-in-law’s prized Christmas tree, he and Kumar go on a wild and trouble-filled adventure in New York City to replace the tree before anyone notices its’ disappearance. The original cast members including Kal Penn (Kumar), John Cho (Harold), Paula Garcés (Maria), Daneel Harris (Vanessa) and the comedic Neil Patrick Harris all return for their respective roles. The movie is shot in 3D and is very interactive with the audience, with random flying objects as well as cast acknowledgment of the 3D during the film. From the moment the movie starts to the credits, the audience will be swept up in the action and comedy that only could happen to Harold and Kumar.
The movie has some unexpected twists and turns as new crazy characters are introduced and their quest for a Christmas tree continues. Though sometimes very unrealistic, it is Harold and Kumar, so the raunchy scenes and craziness comes with the territory. The return of Neil Patrick Harris just adds to the comedy as he pokes fun at himself and explains his survival from the dramatic and violent shooting episode in Guantanamo Bay.
The movie sets itself up for a fourth movie and is mentioned by the characters during the film. An open-minded and younger audience will be pleasantly surprised with this film and it will live up to their expectations of the film series.
So if you are in the mood for adventure and comedy, and you can handle the religiously incorrect and raunchiness that comes with these types of films, this movie should give you a good laugh. Along with the fact that this Harold and Kumar adventure is filmed in 3D, just adds to comedy and ridiculousness.
